Police have charged a 36-year-old man in connection with an attack in which a Denham Town resident was allegedly set on fire after refusing to participate in a protest.
The accused has been identified as Omarley Dennie, otherwise called “Neilly Blacks”, of Denham Town in Kingston.
Dennie, whom police describe as an influential member of the One Away Gang, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
According to police, Dennie was among two men who allegedly set the resident ablaze in Denham Town on Saturday, September 19.
Investigators allege that the attack occurred after the man refused to participate in a protest following the fatal shooting of the gang’s reported leader, Armani Malcolm, otherwise called “Bling Dawg”, the previous day.
The second man, known only as “CJ”, is alleged by police to be a member of the One Away Gang and remains wanted in connection with the incident.
Police have called on CJ to surrender to the Denham Town Police by Wednesday.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators in locating him is being urged to contact the Denham Town Police, the police emergency number at 119, or the nearest police station.
