Alleged Gang Leader Shot and Killed in Portland West

Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine – Alleged Gang Leader Shot: A man who the police say is believed to be the leader of a reputed gang which operates out of the parish of St Catherine, was shot and killed when he reportedly challenged members of the police force in a shootout which occurred at Portland West on Wednesday morning, June 6, 2018.

He has been identified as, Demar Montague, otherwise called “Eddie” 21-year-old unemployed of Gregory Park.

Reports by the police are that, on Wednesday, a team of officers were carrying out operations in a section of Portland West area when they saw a group of men who opened fire at them.

The fire was exchanged and during the shooting, Montague was shot and injured while the other men escaped.

Two illegal firearms, a 40 Smith and Wesson revolver and a .38 revolver along with nine live rounds were seized.

Montague who is said to be the leader of the Compound Gang which operates out of Gregory Park, was transported to hospital where he was treated and admitted.

The alleged gunman succumbed to injuries minutes later.
