The Westmoreland police seized an AK-47 rifle in a section of the Grange Hill community in Westmoreland on Thursday.
No one has been arrested in connection with this latest seizure.
Reports indicate that around 6:00 pm, the police conducted a search in the Geneva district of Grange Hill, targeting an unoccupied building.
During the search of the building and its surroundings, the lawmen found an AK-47 assault rifle, fitted with a magazine containing nineteen 7.62 rounds of ammunition, hidden in a highly vegetated area around the dwelling.
The illegal firearm was wrapped in a black plastic bag.
