SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine — A high-powered weapon was seized by the St. Catherine North Quick Response Team during a police operation on Dallas Lane in Spanish Town on Monday, May 19.
According to reports from the Spanish Town Police, lawmen were conducting targeted operations in the area at approximately 4:50 p.m. when they discovered one AK-47 assault rifle along with a magazine containing fourteen rounds of ammunition. The firearm was reportedly found along the banks of the river.
No arrests were made in connection with the seizure. However, the police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing as they work to determine the origin of the weapon and whether it is linked to any recent criminal activity in the area.
The discovery marks the latest in a series of weapons seizures in St. Catherine, as security forces intensify efforts to combat gun violence and illegal firearms trafficking.
