Acid Attack Kills Woman, 8-Year-Old Daughter Remains Critical
St. Andrew, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- Acid Attack Kills Woman, while 8-Year-Old Daughter Remains Critical: Thirty-year-old Teri Ann Morris of St Andrew, who was a cashier at the Megamart Food store, was doused with acid by her estranged husband while asleep nearly three weeks ago.
Ms. Morris died of her injuries in the Kingston Public Hospital on Wednesday. However, her eight-year-old daughter, who was also injured in the attack, remains hospitalized.
The accused, 39-yr-old Richard Salmon remains behind bars.
Mr. Salmon was remanded when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court on a charge of wounding on Tuesday. However, Superintendent Arthur Brown, head of the St. Andrew South Police Division said that Mr. Salmon will now be charged for murder.
Salmon learnt of the death of Morris when he appeared in the St Andrew Parish court, and was witnessed to be in a state of visible shock, Magistrate Maxine Ellis, ordered him remanded with an order for him to receive counseling while behind bars, stating that “…he is still a human being.”
Reports are that on Thursday September 21, 2017 both Ms. Morris and her daughter was at their home in Greenwich Farm, St. Andrew sleeping, when Mr. Salmon entered the dwelling and doused her with the acid, which caused severe burns to her entire body. The little girl, who is also Mr. Salmon’s daughter, was in bed with her mother and was also injured in the acid attack, she is now in serious condition at hospital..
Mr. Salmon, who is a resident of Seaview Gardens, was captured in St. Elizabeth a few days later. He is scheduled to return to court on October 17.
Investigators speculated that Mr Salmon carried out the attack after Ms. Morris decided to end their relationship.
