Jamaica Crime News, St James: Notorious Gangster Delano “Prekeh” Wilmot has for the third time eluded the police, after he engaged them in a gunbattle that lasted for hours in the Richmond Hill Community of St James, yesterday, November 13.
Initial reports were that the feared gangster who has been terrorizing the community was cut down by members of a joint military team carrying out an operation in the area, however, it was later discovered that it was, in fact, his right-hand man Richard ‘Cruz’ Anderson. The police recovered a high-powered rifle during the operation.
A police source confirmed that he is familiar with both “Prekeh” and “Cruz”, consequently, he is absolutely confident that the deceased is Cruz. He also added that the mistaken identity could have resulted from both men having the same body types and their appearances were altered through skin bleaching.
Since yesterday’s crossfire between the security forces and the gangsters, residents have become terror-stricken and are pleading to the security forces to remain in the community until “Prekeh” is captured. The residents say they dread the consequences they will have to face, now that his crony “Cruz” has met his demise.
The security forces still maintain a strong presence in the community and are relentlessly searching for the elusive fugitive.
The police are reminding residents that it is a crime to harbor fugitives and Wilmot is considered to be armed and dangerous. Residents are advised to call police 119 emergency number or the JDF TIP line at 876-837-8888 to report any information or knowledge that they may have about Wilmot’s whereabouts.
