Latest Jamaica News, Trelawny (McKoy’s News): Painter Shot Dead in Trelawny – Police are now probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an elderly man, in Bounty Hall, Trelawny, on Tuesday night, August 27.
Dead is 71-year-old Lawrence Kelly, a painter of Bounty Hall district in the parish.
According to police reports, about 8:30 p.m., Kelly was walking along the roadway towards his home, when loud explosions which sounded like gunshots were heard.
Residents in the area summoned the police and upon arrival, the elderly man was seen lying along the roadway in a pool of blood, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mckoy’s News understands that Kelly was shot and injured three years ago in an adjacent community where he lived. It is not clear whether the two incidents are related.
Kelly is the second senior citizen to be murdered in Western Jamaica within two days. Last Sunday, returning resident Calvin Forrest was shot to death while returning from his farm in Bastard Cedar Walk, Westmoreland.
