Adamuz, Córdoba — Authorities have confirmed 42 fatalities following a high-speed train collision near Adamuz in southern Spain, marking one of the country’s deadliest rail disasters in recent history.

The crash occurred on Sunday evening, January 18, on the Madrid–Seville high-speed line, when two passenger trains—an Iryo service from Málaga to Madrid and a Renfe Alvia from Madrid to Huelva—collided after one train derailed and struck the other on an adjacent track.
