Last Wednesday, Marqes Ellis, a 24-year-old man, was apprehended and charged in connection with the murder of businessman Norman Dunkley, aged 58, on Trelawny Avenue in Riverton City, Kingston, in 2021.
Ellis faces charges including murder, illegal possession of firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition. The victim, Norman Dunkley, hailed from West Cumberland in Portmore, St Catherine.
According to reports from the Duhaney Park Police, the incident occurred on November 2, 2021, at approximately 10:40 am. Ellis, alongside two other individuals armed with handguns, allegedly ambushed Dunkley as he was driving his blue Toyota Surf motor truck along the roadway. In a brazen attack, they opened fire on Dunkley before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dunkley succumbed to his injuries.
The arrest of Ellis came after an alleged confrontation with law enforcement officials in Riverton City on Wednesday, March 13. Following his apprehension, Ellis underwent questioning in the presence of his legal counsel, ultimately leading to his formal charges.
As the legal proceedings progress, the court date for Marqes Ellis is currently being finalized.
