St. Catherine, Jamaica – 20-year-old Orlando Chin, also known as ‘Juckie,’ has been charged with the murder of 32-year-old Lisa-Gay Cobre, who was reported missing on September 28.
Chin, who lived with Cobre as a sibling (though not biologically related), confessed to the police on October 7 that he killed Cobre and buried her body in Retreat, Glengoffe, St. Catherine, near the home they shared.
According to police reports, Chin walked into the station and admitted to the crime, leading investigators to the shallow grave where Cobre’s partially decomposed body was discovered on October 8. Her remains were exhumed and taken to the morgue for further examination.
The devastating news has rocked the family, particularly the mother of the deceased, who had raised Chin as her own son since he was 10 years old. The grieving mother, a mother of four, had to seek medical attention after learning of the brutal act, which has left her and the community in shock.
Neighbors in Retreat described Chin as a quiet young man with no history of violence. However, they noticed a shift in his behavior following Cobre’s disappearance, which raised suspicion. While many in the community struggle to understand the motive behind the murder, some speculate that Chin may not have intended to kill Cobre.
The tragic incident has left deep emotional scars on the family and the tight-knit community, which had embraced Chin as one of their own.
