A 15-year-old student is among two people who have been charged with murder and other offences in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old construction worker Miguel Anderson, otherwise known as “Bingy,” in Quarry Hill, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The update was provided on Wednesday by Commanding Officer for the St Catherine North Police Division, Senior Superintendent Hopton Nicholson.
According to police, Anderson, a resident of Quarry Hill, was shot and killed sometime after 8:00 p.m. on June 13 in the community.
SSP Nicholson did not disclose the identity of the second accused but confirmed that both individuals are now before the court on charges related to the killing.
The senior officer also highlighted continued progress in reducing violent crime across the division. Between January 1 and June 20, St Catherine North recorded 18 murders, nine fewer than the 27 reported during the corresponding period last year.
Despite the decline, SSP Nicholson stressed that the police remain committed to tackling violent crime and bringing offenders to justice, insisting that law enforcement will not relent in efforts to make communities safer.
