Multiple Wounded in Sword Assault – In a shocking incident in London early Tuesday morning, a man wielding a sword went on the attack, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy and injuries to at least four others, including two police officers.
Authorities reported that the assailant first drove a van into a house before carrying out the violent assault.
According to witnesses, the unidentified suspect, clad in a yellow hoodie, was seen brandishing the weapon around 7 a.m. near Hainault Tube station in north-east London. “He was running around with a samurai sword,” one witness recounted to the Telegraph. Another described hearing a woman’s scream followed by someone shouting about the suspect’s massive weapon.
The initial stabbings occurred at a house where the suspect crashed his van, although authorities did not specify if the property or its occupants were intentionally targeted. The assailant then proceeded to attack other individuals, including two police officers, according to a representative for the police force.

Stuart Bell, chief superintendent of London’s Metropolitan Police, expressed profound sadness as he confirmed the death of the 14-year-old boy from his injuries. Bell extended condolences to the boy’s family, acknowledging the unimaginable difficulty they must be facing.
While the four other injured individuals, including the two police officers, are receiving treatment in local hospitals, their injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.
At the scene, a 36-year-old man was subdued and arrested by police. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan stated that authorities are not seeking additional suspects and emphasized that the incident does not appear to be terror-related.
Despite the alarming nature of the attacks, London Mayor Sadiq Khan commended the swift response of police officers and emergency services, pledging additional patrols in the area for enhanced security. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned the violence, asserting that such acts have no place on the streets of London.
