Portland, Jamaica – The Portland police have charged a 12-year-old boy in connection with an assault that took place on a school compound, which was captured in a viral video circulating on social media. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 12, and the boy was formally charged with Occasioning Bodily Harm on Wednesday, September 17.
The 47-second video shows the 12-year-old repeatedly shoving, punching, and kicking another boy. The footage quickly gained widespread attention online, sparking public outrage and prompting swift action by authorities. Following the incident, the matter was reported to the police, leading to an investigation.
The boy’s case will be brought before the Children’s Court, although a date for the hearing has not yet been finalized. Due to his age, the boy’s identity cannot be disclosed.
