Zones of Special Operations Extended For 60 Days

Jamaica Crime News: Zones of Special Operations Extended The Zones of Special Operations in Denham Town, Kingston, and Mount Salem, in St james, have been extended by a further 60-days, to August 19, and to September 7, 2019, respectively.

The House of Representatives approved the resolution, for the extension on Tuesday, June 11, which was moved by Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang.

In his address, Chang noted that the Zones of Special Operation reflects the shared consensus, regarding the attainment of crime reduction, through social intervention.

The Security Minister, further stated that, Jamaica’s two current Zones of Special Operation, in Mount Salem and Denham Town, were operationalized in 2017, and are still in the building phase.

According to him, this is the longest and largest phase, of the three-phase strategy.
