Westmoreland, Jamaica – Family members of 40-year-old Dacia Forrester are urgently seeking public assistance after she was reportedly set on fire during a dispute at a gas station in Whithorn, Westmoreland, on Thursday.
According to relatives, Forrester was allegedly doused with gasoline and ignited amid an altercation said to have involved another woman. The incident has left her in critical condition with extensive injuries.
Speaking through tears on Friday, her sister, Carol Blackwood-Hewitt, appealed for urgent support to secure life-saving treatment. She expressed fear for her sister’s survival and noted that Forrester’s birthday falls on February 26.
Medical updates indicate that Forrester sustained third-degree burns to approximately 70 per cent of her body. Burn Foundation of Jamaica co-founder Stephen Josephs said arrangements are being made for an air ambulance, which is currently on standby pending the necessary funding. He emphasized that time is critical.
In response to the emergency, the family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical and transportation expenses.
Head of the Westmoreland police division, Senior Superintendent Othnel Dobson, confirmed that the incident occurred in Whithorn. However, he stated late Friday that he was unable to provide additional details at that time.
Persons wishing to assist may contact the Burn Foundation of Jamaica & Crisis Support Charity at 876-344-7028.
