NAIN, St Elizabeth — A woman was shot and killed near a bar in Nain on Wednesday night, marking the fourth murder recorded in St Elizabeth since the start of the year.
The deceased has been identified as Latisha Green, also known as ‘Latty’, a bar operator from Third Street in the Lititz district.
According to reports, Green was standing near the bar when a gunman approached and opened fire, hitting her multiple times. A man who was also at the location was injured during the attack.
Both victims were rushed to hospital, where Green was pronounced dead. The wounded man remains admitted and is undergoing treatment.
The shooting has left residents of the usually quiet community stunned, with concerns growing over the rise in violent incidents. Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
St Elizabeth, which has experienced relatively low crime rates in recent months, now faces renewed concern as the yearly murder count climbs to four. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
