St. Andrew, Jamaica — Panic and grief swept through the usually peaceful community of Rose Hill, Content, St. Andrew, on Tuesday morning when a brutal domestic dispute turned deadly, leaving one woman dead and her teenage daughter critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Sashana Shaw, a resident of the area whose partially clothed body was discovered along a riverbed, riddled with multiple chop wounds from head to toe.
Reports reaching McKoy’s News are that around 10:00 a.m., residents heard alarming cries for help and rushed to the scene. After a dangerous descent down a steep hillside, they came upon the gruesome discovery of Shaw’s body.
Her teenage daughter, who was also attacked, sustained severe head injuries and was transported to hospital, where she remains in critical condition under medical supervision.
The suspect, identified as Ricardo “Crow” McCarthy, was reportedly in a relationship with Shaw. Following the attack, he fled the area, and the St. Andrew North Police have launched a manhunt to locate him.
Investigators believe that the incident stemmed from ongoing domestic issues between the couple. Reports indicate that Shaw had recently attempted to end the relationship, which may have led to the deadly confrontation.
The incident has plunged the Rose Hill community into mourning, leaving residents fearful and heartbroken over the senseless act of violence.
Police are treating the case as murder and wounding with intent and are urging Ricardo “Crow” McCarthy to surrender immediately to avoid further escalation.
As of October 11, the St. Andrew North Police Division has recorded 30 murders, down from 52 during the same period in 2024. However, the brutal killing of Shaw has once again cast a dark shadow over the community
