Los Angeles police have detained a woman accused of firing multiple shots at the Los Angeles home of global music star Rihanna while the artist was inside the property.
Authorities reported that several rounds — or fragments from them — struck areas of the residence during the incident on Sunday afternoon. Officers recovered the firearm at the scene and took the suspected shooter into custody without further violence.
The shooting was reported at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to police. The residence is shared by Rihanna and hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky and is situated near Beverly Hills. Officials said it remains unclear whether A$AP Rocky or the couple’s children were present at the time.
Police stated that the suspect arrived by vehicle before opening fire with what investigators described as an AR-15-style rifle. A motive has not yet been disclosed.
Law enforcement responded to an emergency call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon. Captain Mike Bland confirmed that additional details — including the suspect’s identity and formal booking allegations — are expected to be released.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division has launched an active investigation into the incident.
Aerial footage from a local news helicopter appeared to show damage consistent with bullet impacts on a gate outside the property. The surrounding street was sealed off with crime scene tape attached to a police vehicle, while several individuals were seen leaving the area.
The home is located in Beverly Crest, an affluent neighborhood roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Representatives for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky did not immediately respond to media inquiries.
