The Westmoreland police are investigating a violent domestic dispute that ended with the death of Deno Kongal, 24.
The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at the couple’s home in Savanna-la-Mar, where witnesses say an argument between Deno and his girlfriend, Safiyah, escalated into a physical altercation.
According to initial police reports, both Deno and Safiyah allegedly armed themselves with knives during the confrontation. Safiyah sustained a minor injury to her hand, but Deno received a serious stab wound to his right shoulder. Although he was rushed to Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, Deno was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities detained Safiyah at the scene, and she is now undergoing questioning. Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and whether any charges will be filed.
