The Westmoreland police seized an AK-47 rifle, along with 20 rounds of ammunition and military equipment in Geneva District, Grange Hill on Friday.
No arrests were made in connection with the seizure.
Superintendent Othneil Dobson, Commanding Officer of the Westmoreland Division, highlighted that this recent seizure marks the third firearm recovered within 48 hours. He emphasized the impact this will have on curbing gang activities, particularly focusing on the Kings Valley gang.
“Our efforts to target gangs in the division remain steadfast,” Superintendent Dobson stated. “The Westmoreland police are dedicated to eliminating gangs, firearms, and apprehending wanted individuals from our communities.”
He reassured residents of Westmoreland, particularly those in the Morgan’s Bridge police area, of ongoing efforts to uphold their safety. The police will continue their vigilant actions to dismantle the criminal elements that persist in these regions.
