Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Westmoreland Farmer Murdered: The Bethel Town police in the parish of Westmoreland are now in search of a man who shot and killed a farmer in the area on Friday night.
Dead is 55-yr-old John Bartley of Snow Hill in Amity District.
The police have also indicated that a man who resides at an Amity address and Flower Hill in St James is now been sought in connection with the murder.
Reports are that on Thursday, August 31, 2017, Bartley was at his farm in Snow Hill when an argument developed between the suspect and himself, allegedly over the continuous walking of the suspect through his farm.
About 7:30 p.m. on September 1, Bartley was among a group of men at a shop watching cricket when the man known as Fudge Stick walked up to them and brandished a handgun. He reportedly pointed the weapon to the back of Bartley’s head and fired one shot killing him on the spot.
The gunman then escaped on foot in the area while residents called the Bethel Town Police and on arrival, the victim was transported to the Sav-la-mar Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police and angry residents immediately launched a search for the suspect which led to a house he occupied set on fire and burnt to the ground.
