Kingston, Jamaica – The Western Union branch on East Street, just steps away from Heroes Circle in Kingston, has been shut down for the rest of the day following a brazen robbery at the location.
McKoy’s News understands that the robbery took place sometime between Monday night and early Tuesday morning under the cover of darkness.
When staff arrived for work Tuesday morning, they were reportedly met with damaged infrastructure — an immediate red flag that something had gone terribly wrong. The police were quickly alerted.
At this time, it’s unclear what was taken, and no official word has been released on the value of the theft.
Investigators from the Kingston Central Police Division are now combing the scene as they try to determine how the culprits gained access, what was stolen, and whether security systems were breached.
One resident told McKoy’s, “Every minute dem targeting Western Union… Dem need fi tighten up security!”
This latest hit comes amid a series of attacks on financial outlets in the Corporate Area, raising fresh concerns about after-hours vulnerabilities.
The investigation is ongoing.
