Warmington Named JLP Representative on Electoral Commission; PNP Appoints Maureen Webber

South West St Catherine Member of Parliament Everald Warmington has been appointed as the Jamaica Labour Party’s new representative on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ).

Warmington is slated to take part in the commission’s meeting scheduled for Wednesday. His appointment follows the retirement of Tom Tavares-Finson, who stepped down after serving approximately 20 years as a commissioner.

In addition to his parliamentary duties, Warmington serves as chairman of the JLP’s Area Council Two.

The ECJ will also welcome a new representative from the opposition People’s National Party at the same meeting. The PNP has selected Maureen Webber to serve on the commission, replacing Wentworth Skeffrey.

Skeffrey resigned from his position amid reported pressure from senior figures within the party. He has also indicated plans to step aside as the PNP’s deputy general secretary.
