A JUTC bus driver who reportedly stabbed a taxi operator to death during an altercation along Washington Boulevard, in Kingston on Monday, September 23, is now in police custody.
The bus driver who several eyewitnesses say was acting in self-defense, turned himself over to the police shortly after the incident.
The dead man has since been identified as 37-year-old Akeeno Britton, otherwise called “Bubinile” taxi operator of Albrook Lane, in Kingston 10.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 6:45 p.m., Britton was driving a Toyota Isis motor car along Washington Boulevard, when he met in an accident with a JUTC bus.
Further reports are that both men got involved in an argument where Britton his alleged to have physically assaulted the driver.
A knife was then brought into play, which was used by the JUTC driver to stab Britton to the regions of his upper body. The accused driver then drove away from the scene, while the police were summoned and Britton rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The bus driver turned himself over to the police later that afternoon.
