Vybz Kartel Donates $1 Million to Alma Mater Waterford Primary

Dancehall icon Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer has demonstrated his commitment to giving back to his community, donating $1 million to the Waterford Primary School in Portmore, St Catherine. Administrators at the school, where the entertainer once studied, were elated at the gesture and are eager to put the funds to good use.

Although Palmer did not attend the donation event in person, a representative was present to deliver the generous contribution on his behalf. The funds are earmarked for critical school initiatives, including bolstering the performing arts programme, purchasing new computers, and hosting a special treat for the students next week.

“Part of the funds will help to bolster the performing arts programme, and the plan also is to buy some computers. Also, they will be doing a treat for the children next week,” source close to the school revealed.

The donation follows a history of support from the entertainer and his family. In September 2024, at the start of the current school term, Palmer’s family donated hundreds of books, notebooks, pens, and pencils to the school, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by the institution.

Palmer, who is widely regarded as one of the most talented dancehall entertainers to emerge from Jamaica, attended Waterford Primary School before moving on to Calabar High School in St Andrew.
