Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: A 16-year-old student is now under police guard and nursing serious injuries at hospital, after he was beaten by angry residents during a robbery attempt and an intratec 9, sub-machine gun taken from him on Thursday evening, November 15.
The 16-year-old teenager who was beaten partially to death is said to be from Percy Bush, in Lauriston, St Catherine.
Reports are that on Thursday evening, the student and another man who were both armed with guns attempted to rob persons at an establishment in the Lauriston community.
An alarm was raised and a group of angry residents cornered the gunmen, and managed to overpower the 16-year-old. His crony managed to escape in the area.
The teenage gunman was beaten almost to death, and he along with the submachine gun, MOD99, with a magazine containing four live rounds, were later handed over to the police.
On arrival of the lawmen, the teen who was in an unconscious state was transported to a hospital where he was admitted under police guard.
