Clarendon, Jamaica – The Chapelton police have identified the two people killed in a gun attack on Wednesday in the rural community of Bog Hole, Clarendon.
The deceased have been named as 57-year-old Melbourne Wright and 69-year-old Tatlyn Keen, both residents of Bog Hole district.
A 53-year-old woman, who was also injured during the incident, remains hospitalized.
According to police reports, around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the victims were at home when they were attacked by a man, reportedly a former policeman and ex-soldier. The suspect allegedly entered the premises and made inquiries about Keen’s daughter. Dissatisfied with the responses he received, he reportedly brandished his licensed firearm and opened fire on the trio.
Keen died on the spot, while Wright succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Investigations suggest that the suspect had a prior relationship with Keen’s daughter, which ended badly. Following the breakdown of the relationship, the woman reportedly fled overseas. The suspect is believed to have returned to Jamaica in search of her.
The alleged attacker has since been arrested by the police on suspicion of murder and gun-related offences.
The Chapelton police continue to investigate the tragic incident.
