Authorities in St Catherine have begun a probe following the discovery of a man’s body in the Rio Cobre in Spanish Town on Thursday morning.
Reports from the St Catherine North Police Division indicate that around 9:00 a.m., law enforcement officers received information about a body seen floating in the river near the Waterloo Close area.
A police team responded promptly and, upon arrival, discovered the remains in a significantly decomposed condition. The deceased was dressed in a white merino and orange undergarment.
Investigators processed the scene before the body was removed and officially pronounced dead. It was subsequently transported to a funeral facility, where it will remain pending a post-mortem examination.
Police are continuing their inquiries as they work to establish the identity of the individual and uncover the circumstances leading to his death.
