DUBAI, UAE – A 20-year-old Ukrainian model, Maria Kovalchuk, has been found severely injured on a roadside in Dubai, following an eight-day disappearance that prompted an international search. The discovery comes after she went missing following a party invitation earlier this month.
Kovalchuk, who celebrated her 20th birthday in March, had informed friends that she was attending a party at a hotel on March 9th, accompanied by two men who presented themselves as representatives of the modeling industry, according to reports from Ukrainian media.
Concerns arose when Kovalchuk, who had communicated to her mother, Anna, that she would be staying overnight with these individuals, failed to appear for a scheduled flight to Thailand departing from Dubai on March 11th.
Her mother and concerned friends then alerted Dubai authorities, who initiated a search and investigation into her disappearance. Days passed with no sign of Kovalchuk.
On March 19th, the search ended with the discovery of Kovalchuk, found by the side of a road in Dubai. Reports from Russian news outlets, Shot and Life, indicate she sustained horrific injuries, including broken limbs and a fractured spine. She was reported to be battered and bloodied when found.
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the extent of her injuries are currently under investigation by Dubai authorities. The case has sparked widespread concern and calls for a thorough inquiry into the events leading to Kovalchuk’s condition.
The news has generated significant attention, with many expressing their concern for the young woman, and hoping for a full recovery.
