A UK court has determined that a British dancer was strangled by her boyfriend in a drug-fueled sex game gone wrong before he took his own life.
According to Yorkshire Live, Georgia Brooke, 26, died in February 2022 after being choked by 31-year-old Luke Cannon at his home in Bradford, West Yorkshire. An inquest into her death found this conclusion on Wednesday.

Evidence presented at Bradford Coroner’s Court revealed that the couple had an “experimental” sexual relationship, with Brooke having a particular interest in “choking.” Text messages between them, presented as evidence during the inquest, indicated Brooke had consented to such sexual practices in the past.
Coroner Martin Fleming, who concluded Brooke’s death as an “unlawful killing,” stated that there was no evidence suggesting Cannon intended to kill his girlfriend but used “excessive” force.
Brooke was pronounced dead at a hospital after going into cardiac arrest following the late-night encounter. Cannon alerted first responders and accompanied Brooke to the hospital but fled through a fire door before police could question him.

A murder probe was swiftly launched, but Cannon’s body was discovered hanged in a wooded area near the hospital the next day.
Brooke’s family alleged that her behavior changed after she began dating Cannon in 2021. Her mother, Samantha Beaumont, accused Cannon of being “coercive” and dictating her daughter’s attire. She claimed he was “controlling” during family gatherings.

In contrast, Cannon’s brother, Joshua Cannon, described him as someone who genuinely cared for Brooke and was always willing to help others.
Following Brooke’s death, the coroner emphasized the dangers of sexual choking, describing it as “dangerous and reckless,” often leading to fatal consequences.
