Woman dies after childbirth following harrowing ordeal

UHWI hits out at ‘misinformation’ from autopsy

The University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI)  says it “strongly disputes the misinformation circulated and premature sharing of autopsy findings.” relating to the death of Jodian Fearon.
in a statement this morning, April 30, the UHWI said the determination of the cause of death “is usually pending further ancillary testing.”
Following the autopsy on the body of the 23-year-old newly delivered mom, Jodian Fearon, the doctor retained by the family said publicly that she died of heart failure.
He also said Ms. Fearon died on the floor of the UHWI and had been on the floor for up to 20 minutes.
She was transferred to that hospital after delivering her baby, a girl, at Spanish Town Hospital, following a harrowing ordeal in the health care system, between Thursday and Friday.
