Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: A 31-year-old, used tyre and orange sales man, was shot and killed by a lone gunman at a tyre shop located at Westgate service station on Thursday night, November 15.
The deceased has been identified as Alando Ellis, otherwise called “Al” of Lookout in Hopewell, Hanover.
Reports by the Freeport police are that shortly after 7:00 p.m, Ellis who supply wholesale oranges and used tyres at the Westgate tyre shop, was assisting a co-worker to mount a tyre on a vehicle.
Both men were in the process of completing the job, when they were approached by a lone man, who brandished a handgun and opened fire hitting Ellis multiple times to his upper body, He died on the spot.
The gunman then ran from the scene and made his escape in the directions of the Westgate Shopping Centre.
The police were then summoned and they have launched an investigation into the killing.
Several taxi operators and private motorist quickly assembled on the scene, upon hearing of the Ellis’ death.
A taxi operator who plies the downtown Montego Bay to Orange district route, told our news team that he has been dealing with Ellis for a number of years now.
He pointed out that Ellis was a very good person who they as motorists could depend on to supply them with used tyres.
Several other tyre repairmen at the location also expressed their concern at the shooting and pointed out that Ellis is not the first used tyre dealer to be gunned down at the Westgate tyre shop.
Ellis’ mother was in shock and disbelief as she cried openly and asked the question “why why why they have to kill my son?”.
