Two Teenagers Charged for Break-Ins in Port Maria; Stolen Items Recovered in St Ann

St Mary, Jamaica – Police have arrested and charged two 18-year-old teenagers in connection with a series of break-ins in the Port Maria town centre, St Mary. The stolen items were recovered during a police operation in St Ann.

According to police sources, the teenagers were seen standing near a shop in the Port Maria town centre on Wednesday when their suspicious behavior caught the attention of officers on patrol. The police searched the teens and found a steel cutter in their possession.

The suspects were taken into custody, where they reportedly confessed to carrying out six break-ins in the area. They also revealed that the stolen items had been hidden in Parry Town, St Ann. Acting on this information, police conducted a raid in Parry Town and successfully recovered the stolen goods.

Sheryl, a local business owner, expressed concern about rising criminal activity since the police station was relocated.

“I don’t feel safe after certain hours. You don’t know which business will be the next target. You go home wondering if your business is next. We need to see the police right through the day and night right now,” she said.

In response to the concerns, Superintendent Anthony Wallace, commanding officer for St Mary, reassured the business community of the police’s dedication to maintaining safety.

“We are committed to the safety of the communities and town centres, especially at this time of the year,” Wallace said.

Investigations are ongoing, and the teenagers remain in police custody as they await court proceedings.
