Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Two Men Murdered: The Barnett Street and Freeport police have now joined forces into the investigations behind the killing of two men in downtown Montego Bay on Tuesday night. A civilian was also shot and wounded in the incident.
The two men murdered are Devon Wayne Atkinson, 45-year-old tractor operator who resides at Lilliput and Dain Lysiath, a 34-year-old construction worker of Woodland, Great River in the parish of Hanover. The wounded victim is said to be a 55-year-old man from Barnett Lane in Montego Bay.
Reports are that about 8:30 pm, a group of men traveling in a motor car drove up to the Old Fire Station compound, located at the Intersection of Harbor Street, Barnett Street and Howard Cooke Boulevard.
Two men alighted from the car and walked unto the compound which is now used for a mini car park and approached the two victims.
The gunmen reportedly opened fire on the men hitting them to their upper bodies. The gunmen then escaped in the waiting motor car.
Following the shooting, it was discovered that another civilian had also been shot. The three victims were transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where the two men were pronounced dead and the wounded man admitted in serious but stable condition.
The Freeport police were alerted to the scene and are now carrying out investigations into this latest shooting.
