Jamaica Crime News, St James: Two men who reportedly challenged members of the security forces in a shootout in Irwin Heights, St James on Saturday afternoon of July 7th, were fatally shot and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with several live rounds taken from them.
The police have reported that, so far one of the deceased has been identified as, Shakardo Malcolm, otherwise called “Skelly” laborer of Irwin Heights in St James. The other alleged gunman still remains unidentified.
Reports by the Adelphi police are that about 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, a joint military team went to a section of Irwin Heights in search of gunmen.
On reaching a premises, they came under heavy gunfire from a group of armed men. The fire was returned and during the shooting two of the gunmen were shot and killed.
One glock semi-automatic pistol loaded with several live rounds was taken from one of the men.
The scene was visited by a team attached to the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is now carrying out investigation into this latest shooting.
