St James, Jamaica (McN) – The Police in St James managed to remove two more illegal firearms from the streets of the parish on the weekend.
Mckoy’s News also learnt that four persons including a teenage boy and a female have been taken into custody in
connection with one of the seizures.
Gun number one found near a shop
Reports by the Freeport Police are that, about 10:30 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2017 a joint military team was carrying out operations in Somerton community. On reaching a section of the area known as Bullock Heights they came upon a group of men playing dominoes at a shop. A search of the surrounding area yield in the discovery of a Bersa 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol containing 11 live rounds.
No one was arrested.
Gun number two seized from a car
Hours later on Sunday morning about 5:45 am a team of officers were on patrol along Howard Cooke Boulevard when they observe the occupants of a car throwing garbage unto the roadway.
The vehicle was stopped and searched. During the searched a Arzus 9 millimeter pistol with 13 live rounds was discovered in a secret compartment of the vehicle.
All four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
