The Hanover police have confirmed that Eric Collins, a Trelawny man sought in connection with the shooting death of his Canadian girlfriend at her rented apartment in Lucea, Hanover, last Wednesday, has been apprehended and charged with murder.
The accused, 52-year-old Eric Collins, also known as ‘Steve,’ was wanted for the murder of 52-year-old April Sheila Labine, his girlfriend from North York, Ontario, Canada.
According to reports, Labine, who arrived in Jamaica late last year, was residing at a rented apartment in Elgin Town, Lucea, with Collins. On Tuesday night, an argument between the couple escalated, resulting in gunshots being heard emanating from the apartment.
The following morning, police responded to a report and discovered Labine’s lifeless body inside the apartment, with a gunshot wound to her head. The crime scene was processed, and Labine’s body was subsequently removed for a post-mortem examination.
Collins surrendered to police in Kingston over the weekend and was formally charged on Monday.
