Belize City, Belize — Authorities in Belize are investigating the mysterious deaths of three women whose bodies were discovered at a hotel over the weekend.
The women, identified as Kaoutar Naqqad, 23; Imane Mallah, 24; and Wafae El-Arar, 26, were born in Morocco but held U.S. citizenship. They had checked into the hotel on February 19.
Housekeeping staff became concerned when several attempts to reach the women went unanswered. After using a master key to access the hotel room, they found the women unresponsive in different areas of the suite. Emergency responders confirmed their deaths shortly after authorities were alerted.
Preliminary investigations have led police to suspect a possible drug overdose, as vomit and froth were found around the women’s mouths. However, no signs of forced entry or physical injuries were discovered at the scene.
Surveillance footage from the hotel confirmed that the women had entered the resort on Thursday, February 19, and had not been seen leaving the suite since then.
The Belize police are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths, but no official cause has been determined as of yet. The incident has raised concerns and sparked widespread media attention, with authorities working to gather more details about the women’s activities during their stay and the potential cause of their deaths.
