Westmoreland, Jamaica — Police in the Westmoreland Division say criminal charges are pending against three women following a violent confrontation at a gas station in Whithorn that left one woman hospitalised in critical condition.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, reportedly began as a dispute between the parties and quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the clash, a flammable substance was used, resulting in one woman being doused and set ablaze.
The injured woman, who was identified in a viral video circulating online, sustained severe burn injuries. She was first treated at a medical facility in the parish before being transferred to Cornwall Regional Hospital for specialised treatment.
Investigators further revealed that amid the chaos, one of the accused women was allegedly stabbed by another female who intervened during the incident. Both individuals were hospitalised, and police confirmed that one remains under guard. The woman accused of carrying out the stabbing is currently in custody.
Law enforcement officials have recorded statements and are compiling a case file to be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review. Charges are expected.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has renewed its appeal to the public to refrain from sharing graphic footage of the incident, citing the disturbing nature of the videos circulating on social media.
