The three JCF members convicted for the 2014 death of 31-year-old Mario Deane have received suspended sentences.
The judgement was handed down on Tuesday in the Westmoreland Circuit Court.
The three accused are Corporal Elaine Stewart and District Constables Marlon Grant and Juliana Clevon.
All three were found guilty of manslaughter and misconduct in a public office on May 22 this year.
Stewart was found guilty of an additional charge of perverting the course of justice.
On Tuesday, Constables Grant and Clevon received suspended sentences of 3 years.
Corporal Stewart was sentenced to five years in custody.
However, her attorney gave notice of appeal.
As a result, Stewart was granted bail pending the appeal.
The trial of the three JCF members charged in connection with Deane’s death began in March this year, nearly 11 years later.
Deane was arrested on August 3, 2014, for possession of a ganja spliff.
He was severely beaten while in custody at the Barnett Street police station in St. James.
Deane died three days later at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James on August 6, 2014.
