A late-night police operation in Clarendon ended in deadly gunfire on Friday, leaving three men dead and another receiving medical treatment.
The incident unfolded in the Comfort district near Osborne Store, where law enforcement officers reportedly engaged four men traveling in a grey Honda Fit. Authorities say two firearms and several rounds of ammunition were recovered following the confrontation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police for Area 3, Christopher Phillips, reported that officers were conducting targeted operations in the community when they signaled the vehicle to pull over. The car complied with the instruction, but the situation quickly escalated.
According to Phillips, the driver exited the vehicle armed and allegedly pointed a weapon at the police team. Investigators further stated that the remaining occupants also opened fire, prompting officers to return gunfire.
When the exchange ended, three men were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. They were later pronounced dead. The driver fled the scene on foot but subsequently sought medical attention.
Police later confirmed that the injured individual arrived at hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand and was identified as the vehicle’s driver.
The deceased have been named as 26-year-old Michael Pinnock, otherwise called “Size Ten,” of Swansea in Clarendon Parish; 35-year-old Dean Williams, known as “Sam” and “Crazy Block,” a mechanic from York Town and Swansea in the parish; and 25-year-old Rushane Lynch, also called “Juvenile” and “Courtney,” who had addresses in Raymonds, Hayes, Clarendon, and Old Harbour Bay in St Catherine Parish.
Phillips indicated that intelligence gathered by investigators suggests the police intervention may have prevented planned acts of violence. He commended the officers involved and encouraged residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts, emphasizing that public safety remains the force’s primary mission.
