Kingston, Jamaica — Three men, including a foreign national, have been formally charged following the seizure of a large quantity of suspected cocaine off Jamaica’s southern coastline.
The accused were apprehended on April 22, 2026, during a routine maritime patrol conducted by the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard. The interception took place approximately 20 miles south of Portland Ridge.
Law enforcement officials reported that more than 1,100 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine were recovered during the operation. The illicit drugs are estimated to have a street value of roughly JMD$703 million.
The three men now face several charges, including trafficking, importing, and dealing in cocaine. Additionally, the Colombian national has been charged with illegal entry into the island.
The matter is scheduled for mention in court on May 7, as investigations by the Jamaica Constabulary Force continue.
