Temporary Traffic Changes Announced for Bogue Road Amid Montego Bay Bypass Construction

Starting Saturday, November 2, the National Works Agency (NWA) will implement temporary traffic changes along sections of Bogue Road in St. James to support ongoing construction of the Montego Bay Bypass by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC). The NWA’s Western Region Community Relations Officer, Janel Ricketts, announced that movement on the Bogue main road and near the Temple Gallery intersection will be restricted to facilitate the construction of a new overpass.

A newly designated entrance and exit will be available for access to areas such as Bogue Industrial Estate and Bogue Village via the Bogue Road/Glaister Dehaney Close intersection, located near the National Water Commission’s (NWC) Bogue office. To ensure smooth traffic flow, a temporary traffic signal has been set up at the intersection, but large trucks and articulated vehicles may encounter difficulties navigating the route. Consequently, these larger vehicles will be permitted limited access to the Bogue main road and Temple Gallery intersection, allowing only left turns from the Temple Gallery Road.

Commuters from the Bogue Industrial Estates and Temple Gallery Road areas heading toward the Bogue main road should travel via Maffesanti Drive and Glaister Dehaney Close before turning at the NWC Bogue intersection. Meanwhile, drivers traveling from Reading toward the city center will be directed onto a detour near Appliance Traders Limited (ATL), which runs between the current roadway and the NWC sewer ponds.

Motorists are urged to follow all posted signage and directions from flag persons to ensure a safe transition through the adjusted routes.
