A 15-year-old boy, along with three other males, has been arrested for their alleged involvement in setting fire to the Exchange Seventh Day Adventist Church in St Ann on Monday.
Head of the St Ann Police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, disclosed that the remaining individuals in custody include two 19-year-olds and a 21-year-old.
Reports from the police indicate that the group unlawfully entered the church premises, where they proceeded to pilfer several items before igniting sections of the building. The swift response of the fire brigade and law enforcement personnel prevented further damage to the property.
Senior Superintendent Powell conveyed that following the cooling down operations carried out by emergency responders, the suspects were intercepted and arrested by law enforcement officials.
As investigations continue into the incident, charges are expected to be filed against the accused individuals. The St Ann Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that those responsible for this egregious act are brought to justice.
