Police in St Catherine have taken a male teacher into custody following an incident in Greater Portmore in which he is accused of pulling a firearm on his girlfriend during a heated argument at his residence.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on Wednesday while the man was at home with relatives. A disagreement reportedly escalated between the educator and the woman, during which he allegedly pushed her several times.
Police further reported that the man later went inside the house and returned with a black handgun concealed in his waistband. He is accused of removing the weapon and pointing it at the woman.
A report was made to the police, triggering an investigation. Subsequent searches of the premises reportedly uncovered a loaded revolver, along with an imitation Glock pistol and five imitation cartridges.
The suspect was arrested and is being held on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and assault at common law. His identity is being withheld as investigations continue.
