Jamaica News, April 11, 2018 – Taxi Operator Murdered in Kingston

Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A 53-year-old taxi operator was robbed, then shot and killed by two armed men posing as passengers on Tuesday afternoon, April 10.

The deceased has been identified as, Michael Swabey, of South Heaven in Yallas, St Thomas.

Reports by the Hunts Bay police are that shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Swabey was operating his taxi in the Tree Oaks Road area of Kingston 19, when he picked up two male passengers.

The two men brandished handguns and robbed the taxi operator of cash.  The gunmen later opened fire hitting Swabey to his upper body before escaping in the area on foot.

The Hunts Bay police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
