ST JAMES, Jamaica — A taxi operator has died following a fiery late-night crash along the Salt Spring main road in St James on Friday, September 5, 2025.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Dwayne Ecccleston, of Pleasant View, Salt Spring.
Reports are that sometime after 11:00 p.m., Ecccleston was driving a Toyota Voxy when it collided head-on with a Nissan Serena, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The impact left both vehicles badly mangled, and emergency crews, including the police and firefighters, were summoned to the scene. Ecccleston sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two men who were travelling in the Nissan Serena also sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.
The Salt Spring community has been left in shock, as residents mourn the passing of the well-known taxi operator.
Police investigations are ongoing.
