Taxi Driver Fatally Shot in Hanover

Hanover, Jamaica – A man was shot and killed while sitting at a shop along the Sandy Bay main road in Hanover on Monday evening.

Dead is Jermaine Hunter, 37, otherwise called Richie, a resident of Ball Ground in Montpelier in the parish.

According to preliminary reports, around 6:50 pm, Hunter parked his grey 2010 Toyota Wish motor car outside a shop at the intersection of High-Level and Sandy Bay roads. While seated outside the establishment, Hunter was ambushed by two armed men riding a yellow motorcycle, who opened fire, hitting him.

The police were alerted and upon arrival, they discovered Hunter lying on his back in a pool of blood, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite receiving urgent medical attention, Hunter succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Noel Holmes Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
