Two people , including an alleged robber, sustained injuries, and authorities seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition, after men posing as passengers reportedly robbed a taxi driver on Roosevelt Avenue in Kingston, early Saturday morning.
According to the Stadium police, the incident occurred around 12:15 AM. Three men, posing as passengers, entered a taxi and proceeded to rob the driver, injuring him in the process.
During the robbery, a struggle ensued, resulting in both the taxi driver and one of the robbers sustaining gunshot wounds. The attackers then fled the scene, abandoning the taxi and the injured driver.
The police were alerted and, upon arrival, found the injured taxi driver and transported him to the hospital for treatment. A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of the injured gunman and one of his accomplices.
A Sig Sauer 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 11 cartridges was recovered. The injured suspect is currently receiving treatment under police guard at the hospital, while the other accomplice has been taken into custody. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigation.
