St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – St James Records 200 Murders: The parish of St James on Wednesday night of September 6, 2017, recorded its 200th murders since the start of the year 2017. The victim that is now at the top of the murder count has been identified as, 31-yr-old Ricardo Hitchman, Shop Keeper of Paradise, Norwood.
Reports by the Freeport police are that about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Hitchman had just driven home to his house in Paradise, Norwood and parked his car. He was walking towards the door of his house when he was ambushed by two gunmen who opened fire, hitting him to the regions of his upper body. Family members heard the gunshots and ran from the house, only to find Hitchman in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. This murder occurred despite heavy military patrols in several troubled communities and despite the Joint Military in the Zone of Special Operation which is a short distance away.
Also, the Montego Hills and Barnett Street police areas continue to dominate with the highest count in murders being committed in the parish.
